Day 5, 6 & 7

Day 6. Mac n Cheese with a lion.
So Day 5 was the mirror picture that I used for Evoking You's challenge. Day 6 I took at the zoo yesterday while I was on lunch break. I used an awesome app for the android called HDR camera, it's really amazing. Day 7 is today and as I get ready to take my psycho dog to the vet for his shots (something I am dreading but he hasn't had a vet check up or shots in 5 years...well shots he got boosters 4 years ago) I am not quite sure what to do for today's picture.

I opted for a photo with me holding my coffee-which I am drinking trying to calm my nerves. I am also wearing Batman sleeping pants so I included those in the shot. It's a selective body shot and after a few filters on Photoshop I think it turned out pretty awesome.

Evoking You 52 Week Photo Challenge!

On top of my daily challenge I will be doing this year, I am also going to participate in Evoking You's 52 week challenge! This week's challenge is "Mirror".  I hope throughout the year to really grow as a photographer in terms of my camera skills and creative angles.

Day 4 of the Photo Challenge

I had this idea to focus on something I love and be in the background of the shot. This isn't exactly what I had pictured but when I saw it, I liked it better than my other ideas. It was one of the first few pictures I took, and I kept trying to see if I could get a better one, all of those ended up being trashed. My tripod also decided it was done (It's very old) so now I need a new tripod...along with the remote for my camera I am wanting to purchase. Guess I need to decide which I want more now-I'm thinking tripod-what do you think?

Who remembers these games? Back in the good 'ol day when you could fix a game simply by blowing...

Day 3 of the photo challenge

Day 3 and I am already worried about not knowing what to do tomorrow! I got dressed up for work this morning, in anticipation of warding off any trouble I might have been in,  and stopped by Starbucks for a Chai on the way in. I have the entire day off of work tomorrow and I get to stretch my imagination for a photo and for a totally awesome scarf for a friend! Should be a great day, not such a great paycheck with an extra day off but...I plan on making the most of it.

Day 2!

Day 2 of my photo challenge, I saw the coolest finger tattoos of light sabers and got the idea that for day 2, to draw 2 light sabers on my fingers and recreate the tattoos! In one of the shots my dog ran over and her ears are the focus point in the foreground of the picture, which turned out cool but the light sabers weren't in the shot. Maybe she gave me an idea for another day.... :)

Have a happy 1st Monday of 2012~

Maternity Session

Recently I did a photo shoot with my two younger sisters, both of which are pregnant and due in February & March. The following are some of my favorite photos from the day-I hope you enjoy them!

This one is Katherine making a typical face for her, captured her mood nicely, too!

This also captures my sisters personality nicely-I am not a fan of saying "Smile" to capture a 'normal' happy face, I'd rather capture a candid laugh!

Stay tuned in the next few months for their newborn sessions! (Yes, as my sisters, they don't get a choice...their babies will be photographed every time I baby sit!)

Photo Challenge of 2012

I decided for this year to really dig in deep with my photography business and work on my skills and expanding my clientele base. To date, I have only done photo shoots for friends, to build my portfolio. My goal for the end of 2012 is to have booked at least 3 "official" sessions and be proud of the work I produce from them.

This photo challenge will help encourage me to expand my creativity and try new perspectives and settings. Each day I will take a self portrait and post it to my webpage, along with a word of the day. Today's word is Novation. It means the introduction of something new. (Merriam-Webster has some smart people working for them to post that as the word of the day for New Years Day ;-)

I hope everyone has a great new year! (Although I have no followers yet, maybe by the end of the year I will have some and they will be kind enough to read backwards to this!)
